G'day!  I'm Gary, AB1IP.

I enjoy QRP and portable operation... perhaps enjoy too much, to the point where I don't actually have a fixed QRO station.  On a good day, I'll be operating a battery powered radio and a wire antenna from the summit of a local mountain, 3 km above sea level, with the closest QRM somewhere beyond the horizon.  If I'm less energetic, I might be using the same setup right behind my house (or in the worst case, inside the house, with the antenna folded over and taped to the wall).

My favourite band is 17 m, though I make most of my QSOs on 20.  I particularly like designing my own radios and software... the fact that they often don't work very well has never deterred me yet!
