Hello All,

I received my F Call in April 2007 and since then have enjoyed talking and meeting the many great Amateur Radio Operators.

My interest are, Camping, Trail bike Riding, my Family and now Amateur Radio.

Although I have always been interested in Radio, it was not until March 2007 that I found out about the new F License structure.

I hope to catch you around the air waves very soon..

As of 17-06-2008, I sat, passed and received my Standard License, you may remember my old call sign VK3FCLS..

After hitting the books, DVD's, and with much help from some great friends and my club the EMDRC, I managed to upgrade.

So I hope to hear you on a few different frequencies.

All the best, thanks for looking up my details and for the chat.

What's new as of late 2013...

Decided to purchase a Icom IC7000 seeing that I have noe been running my IC706MKIIg in my car for a couple of years and love the radio... So off to the local Ham Radio Shop to purchase a new IC7000... Got it home and hooked it up and loved it so much I decided to sell my Yaesu FT897D, which I sold in March 2014.

As of April 2014...

The new IC7000 does a great job and is also great when I take it on my Caravan holidays with my wife... much more compact.
I have it running through my LDG IT-100 Auto Tuner via the OCF 80M Dipole... and it does just fine..
In late March I purchased the SM-30 Icom Desk Mic for the 7000... works well...

As of July 2014...
My wife and I managed to get 5 weeks off work and with our two sons looking after our house, we headed off in the Caravan.. we headed north to Longreach in Qld.. What a great trip, the weather was perfect and I managed to play a good deal of HF Radio..

The above video clip shows off a recent holiday spent on a house boat called the Orlando which was on the Murray River, Murray Bridge South Australia, cruising to Mannum. I set up my Icom IC706MKIIG, with my 2M/70cm Whip and Famparc 5 band HF whip.. worked a treat, hope you enjoy the clip.

A few other Radio Adventures

2009 Amtra High Country Ride wet wet wet..

As of 27 Sep. 2010.. my latest Australian Outback ride... Sorry, no radio's on this ride, no room.. Except from rider to rider.

June 2011 I purchased a new motorcycle a KTM990 Adventure, and have been riding around the country..

Lot's of trips lot's of K's.

September 2012 wife and I purchased a Caravan and are having fun traveling around when we get time and holidays.. good fun working radio from the caravan.

December 2013:

Purchased a new IC-7000 via local dealer, and are having fun getting the hang of it.

Update June 2017:

My IC-706MK2G died.. it was in my car as a mobile setup... So after getting permission from my wife.. LOL.. I decided to purchase an Icom IC-7100 for the vehicle..

So far.. very happy with it.. and have managed also to set up D-Star.. woo hoo.

Update September 2017:

Sold my IC-7000 and updated to another IC-7100 for the shack.. Trick radio... and have been also setting it up to run with HRD and Digital PSK etc..  Also can play Dstar from home.

Update September 2019:

Wow another two years... well... have not been riding much, but have got further in to DStar with the purchase of two Hot Spots... We have upgraded our Caravan and have a full time DStar Spot running in the caravan when my wife and I are travelling.. I must say, I just love getting away and exploring this wonderful country Australia.. We both love staying at the small country and and outback towns and meet some great people. To be able to stay in contact with other Hams on DStar whilst travelling it great.

Update Feb 2021.

Wow.. we are all struggling with this world wide Covid problem.. Being in Australia we are doing pretty good.. So I wish all of you a safe and healthy future..

What's news.. Well as of Jan 2021, I have purchased a new radio and niftty little rig the Icom IC-705.

I have also dismatled my Ham Radio Shack (See pic above of how it was) as due to our NBN being installed any radio transmission from the shack would knock out the NBN connection. What a pain !!

So I installed my shacks IC-7100 into my caravan.. and purchased the new IC-705. Seeing that it's a lightweight portable QRP rig with a very small foot print, I have moved it to the Family room of the house.. and although I continue to knock out the NBN on 40M's I'm ok on the other bands running 10 watts.

This is an amazing little Rig and although 10 watts can be a strugle, I'm amazed on how well it performs.

2nd Update Feb 2021

Sold one of my IC-7100's that was not in use.. My thoughts were that I have my trusty IC-7100 in the vehicle where I can work, all modes and bands plus Dstar... And now that I also have my IC-705 that can do the same but on lower power, plus it's a portable rig, I get myself a true Base Station Rig for both home and Caravan/Portable use.

So after the painless selling of the 7100, I zipped down to the local Toy Shop and purchased a very popular and well liked and admired Icom IC-7300..

What a great rig.

My very simple shack setup.. also connected to my Imac.

Hope to catch you on the air or via one of the Digi modes such as FT8 etc

Update..

Hace started playing with JS8Call via my Imac.. Made some grerat contacts around the globe...

Give it a try !
