Name here is Wayne. I first got my Novice ticket as KB4ZLE back in 1987. I barely passed the 5WPM code requirement and to this day, I still have problems with CW. My ears just can't seem to hear it right.

I upgraded in March of 1992 to Technician + and got active on 2m. I joined Delta Amateur Radio Club in Memphis and operated multiple events with them. I also got involved in the Civil Air Patrol and a few other Emergency Services related orginizations. I always seemed to be involved in the communications side of things. (I wonder why!!  No clue!!) Of course, in 2000, like everyone else, I was stripped of the + and became just a Tech when the FCC decided to drop from 6 classes of licenses to 3.

In 2011, several of my friends changed their call signs to vainity signs and it got me thinking about changing mine. After months of research and soul searching, I finally decided that I would change my call as well. It was time to retire KB4ZLE and become W4SYK. After all, the call is my name in more ways than one (Wayne 4 SYKes)! I also moved to Nashville during that year, so I guess change was inevitable!!

I currently live in Rochester, NY and work for L3Harris. I repair units that come off the manufacturing line that fail in testing for various reasons. Some are placement issues by the SMT machine, while others are assembly issues as well as bad parts.
