First licensed in 1973 as WN4GBI, I am 46 years into this wonderful hobby. I have held the Amateur Extra Class license since 1982 and the FCC Lifetime General Radiotelephone license (previously the FCC First Class Radiotelephone license) since 1978. I am a a member and past president of the Radio Amateur Club of Knoxville (RACK), SouthEastern Repeater Association (SERA), and the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE). I am certified at the CBRE level through SBE. I am also a member of the Middle East Tennessee Emergency Radio Service (METERS) and a life member of Sevier County Emergency Radio Service/ R.A.C.E.S. All these repeaters are located in the Knoxville, TN area. All of my repeaters are open and hams are welcome to try them out when in the area. I have been an amateur repeater owner since 1981. Presently, I am employed as the Chief Engineer WUOT-FM, The University of Tennessee's NPR station. Previously, I was the Chief Engineer for the Cumulus Stations in Knoxville (WIVK/WNML/WOKI). I still serve as their backup engineer. I am also the Engineer for WJBZ-FM, WLAF-AM, WLIK-AM, WCLC AM/FM, and WGSN-FM in the Knoxville area. I am also the Chief Engineer and Technical Director of the Vol Radio Network, which broadcasts the University of Tennessee football, basketball, and baseball games.
