I hold a U.S. Amateur Extra Class license. I was first licensed in 2005, and I passed all 4 licensing exams (10 WPM code, Technician, General, Extra) at one licensing session. Although I have commented that my Electrical Engineering degree made it easy to pass the exams, in truth, the U.S. licensing exams are far easier today than when I first learned about ham radio in the mid-1980's.

I prefer direct (mail) QSLs - it's hard to pass up the interesting designs, including photos, that other hams use. However, when the U.S. Postal Service stopped selling or allowing International Reply Coupons, I stopped actively mailing QSL cards outside of the United States.

I will ALWAYS reply to any QSL card sent to me - even SWL cards.

I do use Logbook of the World, though it may take me a week or longer to upload logs.

You will only find me listed on HamQTH.com and one other callsign database. HINT: the other database is not the most popular one.

I operate voice and digital modes. I am also interested in low-speed CW, which seems to be very unpopular outside of the SKCC events.

I have a Mosley TA-54-XLN-6 at 50 feet (15 meters) elevation, which gives me decent coverage on 20 thru 6 meter bands. I have a Barker & Williamson folded dipole that I use for 80/75, 60, 40, and 30 meters...but it really only does well for digital modes or for local traffic nets. Most of my operating is 20 meters and up.
