The 20thCentury Fox TV series Last Man Standing, is a family comedy centered on Tim Allen’s character, Mike Baxter.
Each week we see Mike’s home life with the wife and three grown daughters and his workplace Outdoor Man (ODM), a fictitious chain of sporting goods stores.
“Mike” is a “man’s man” and involved in many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and boating. These days, all these activities have some technology associated with them. Mike (and Tim) has a love for all technology especially electronics.
Among Mike’s interests is Amateur Radio (Ham Radio). On the show, Mike has the fictitious call sign KA0XTT. This call-sign was "cleared" for use on air. "XTT" is a bit of a private joke as Tim's character name on "Home Improvement" was Tim Taylor. So, ex T. T.
Tim has his own real call-sign in real life. Recently, Jet Jurgensmeyer who plays Boyd Baxter on the show got his license.
The licensed crew members formed the Last Man Standing Amateur Radio Club (LMSARC) under the call KA6LMS and use the actual on-set radios during our dinner breaks. Over the seasons, KA6LMS worked thousands of ham fans, sent and received thousands of QSL cards.
LMS returns for season 8 in January of 2020 on Thursday nights at 8PM/7PM Central on the Fox Network.
