Hi,
I became a Ham shortly after hurricane Andrew hit the East coast of the United States.in 1992. I was working with Southern Bell Telephone company at the time, because of the damage from the hurricane , the company thought that it would be a good idea to have HF radio capabilities. A class was started and after squeaking by the code I had my license! I must say that I wasn't very active as a ham, being young and with a family etc., I retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. in 1996.
Although, I wasn't active I had kept my license current. Recently my wife has developed some physical issues that will keep me at home close to her and I thought that Ham Radio is the perfect hobby under those circumstances.
I rarely call CQ but do answer them, but I enjoy chasing Special Event paper. My rig is an Icom 7300 that I recently purchased and so far have been pleased with. As for my antenna, I have a Hex Beam that is up about 6 meters. The hex has been the best antenna that I have ever had.
Well, thats about it, other than the fact that I am a Christian and that I have 3 grandchildren. Hope that all is well with you!
