I received my Amateur Radio Technician's license along with my father in early August of 2014 at the age of 10. For the next 3 years, My father and I were fairly active within the York County Amateur Radio Society (Y-CARS). However, in late July of 2017, my father moved job positions and my family relocated to the small town of Clinton, SC. Realizing that there was no ARS in Laurens County, I was inactive for the next two years. I was on and off for the next few years until summer of 2021 when I had saved up enough money from my new job position to buy a real mase antenna and a Software Defined Radio for broadband reception and weak broadband transmit capabilities. I am looking into getting a 50w mobile radio to use as a more powerful if less flexible alternative to the SDR for use with local VHF/UHF FM voice repeaters. I am also very interested in HF digital modes and DX communications, and so plan to acquire my General license sometime soon. As of early August 2021 I am 17 and looking into investing more time into amateur radio as a whole. See you on the radio!
