Hi, I'm an amateur operator in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the middle of absolute nowhere). Feel free to make a QSO, I'm mainly active on VHF/UHF and the 80/40/15m bands-- I don't bite! I will respond to all paper QSLs, no SASE required!

My main equipment I operate is an Ailunce HA1UV 2m/70cm HT, which is my daily carry radio as well as a Realistic Pro-37 multiband scanner, which is running 24/7/365. I have an EchoLink terminal set up on my home computer. I made General on Feb. 25, 2025 and Extra on Apr. 5, 2025, and am in the process of getting a QRO HF setup of my own working so I can make DX contacts more easily. I do have a fully functioning spark-gap transmitter for the 160m band that the FCC says I am not allowed to use, so it mainly sits gathering dust... 

I run the 447.120 (67Hz PL, no offset) W3TLP/R repeater in Houghton Michigan; it's open to the public, so feel free to use it if you're in town. 

In addition to Ham, I am also licensed on the GMRS band (WSGS613) and have a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit. I'm also on CB-- my handle is "Hickory Sticks". I was certified as a Skywarn weather spotter (16-255NYC). 

As of November, 2025, I have a Meshtastic node powered on almost all of the time, its name is PETER-MESH (PETE).

Currently I am a full-time college student studying Engineering, but also work as the primary board operator for the local radio station (WOLV, WHKB, WCCY) and an Archives Technician at the National Parks Service. I'm highly obsessed with history and would love to get a 1920s HF set up-and-running eventually. I grew up in New York City (Bayside, N.Y.), but I am now a bona-fide resident of the boonies. Don't be surprised if you run into me in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania, I frequent the area since my parents live there.
