My QTH is Buena Vista, Colorado.  Buena Vista is a small mountain town at 8,000 ft. elevation, located about 100 miles west of Colorado Springs, along the Arkansas River.  Without access to an ATV repeater here in rural Colorado, I operate with FreeDV plus Video (FreeDV+), an HF alternative to UHF fast-scan TV.  FreeDV+ offers a combination of Narrow Band TV (NBTV) and digital voice (FreeDV).  Frame rate is 1 frame/sec, resolution is 36 lines, with full color.  FreeDV+ requires an HF transceiver with a Class-A output amplifier (some Yaesu transceivers) or with adaptive predistortion (APD).  Transceivers from Apache Labs have APD (PureSignal), and FlexRadio (6000 series) and Elecraft (K4) will soon offer APD.  I use an Apache Labs ANAN-10E with HF Packer and Ameritron AL-811 amplifiers.  See the FreeDV+ website (link below) for more details.
