Hi to All from My QTH Blackpool North Lancashire North West United Kingdom From G4BPT
My name is Dr Sharon Anne Taylor I Live on the Northwest Coast of England at A seaside Resort call Blackpool in the County of Lancashire I have been Involved in and around Amateur Radio since a Small Child My father was a G2 and passed his radio Exam back in 1938. and I grew up around many Home Built Valve Radios, And remember the Fascination as a young girl watching the valves light up for the first time that was in the early 1960's and the wonderful smell of the valves when Hot....I Passed my Class A Full Amateur Radio License at the End of 1979. And put all the Knowledge gained from my Father to good use. Endless Night school preparing for my Exam as a Radio Ham. I remember the Pressure well! I continued with Amateur Radio with the odd brake here and there while I was at University I kept my hand in till I got Married and Family Came along then for a while my priorities changed and I just had to fit my Radio Hobby around and alongside my work Hours and Family time the Death of my wife in 1994 was a turning point I had been off Air for several years But l was looking at some Electronic Equipment on eBay and came across a Icoms 706 the price was reasonable and I had a sudden Impulse to acquire it so I did and now I’m back on the air 100% and loving every minute my call sign G4BPT. So if you hear me calling CQ Come say Hello.....
I am well into making all manner of Electronic bits and Bobs (Homebrew 100%) But then The fun of Been a Radio Ham I feel has always been the Construction and Making of the bits and bobs for you Ham Setup, it seems it's so easy to just go out and Buy something these days, But I guess we all tinker with our Antennas so I guess the Homebrew Bug is still alive and Kicking Hi....
I also love CW and also working QRP Think even today there is still a real challenge having a QSO on 1 or 2 Watts.
Have decided for 2018 to spend more time on the Radio than repairing them!! So I am looking to get a Yaesu 587d for Portable work as I live only a couple of minutes walk from the beach. so it would be nice to do some portable work come summer, In the meantime I am Hoping to sort out my Ham Radio Shack it's a bit Cluttered at present with old Radio Gear and Test Equipment !
So I decided to construct a light weight Framework to hold the radio and L match Unit etc. I posted some Photos of my Pedestrian Portable HF mobile Frame Here (First Attempt) I am now look forward to the challenge of pedestrian Mobile HF.

I have tested the Radio Made the L Match Unit Got a Nice Battery ready Dry Tested that it all Fits in the frame. It Does So Now i am Going to Spray the Whole Framework Satin Black once Prepped and Primed. The frame is Only 21" Tall and Very light weight with all the Equipment and Batteries.
Basic yes But it works ! You Just have to Make do with what space you have and in my case Thats not Much .... So looking to doing a lot of DX through 2018.
