I was originally licensed with class B callsign G8MLY in 1976 and passed the morse test to obtain my full license G4IVV in 1979.

In the first few years I was mainly active on 2m SSB and RTTY (initially with an old Creed mechanical teleprinter and subsequently with my own software on a Nascom 2 in the early 1980s). I took a long break from amateur radio but recently rediscovered the hobby and I'm back on the air from April 2021.

Home isn't a great location for VHF so I'm mainly active on the HF bands, 80m through to 10m. You may also find me out and about when I get chance to activate a SOTA summit or POTA park.

My main interest now is CW.
