I obtained my Limited Licence (52Mhz and above) as a teenager back in 1974.
As a 14yo SWL, I use to listern to the local 2M repeater using a modified, all tube, AWA MR3A commercial carphone (no TX stage) that I picked up for $5.00.
My first transceiver was a low band, A.M. Pye Reporter modified for 11 metres. This one got me in trouble with the authorities as CB wasn't legal.... at that time.
My first legal rig was a Vinten MTR-13, a converted, all tube,10Watt commercial VHF F.M transceiver on two metres. This was soon followed by a 50 watt, AWA BTR-50 base station on 2 Metres FM and a Philips TCA1674, 50Watt low band base station on 6 metres FM.
Numerious ex-carphone followed which I converted to various VHF & UHF bands. Next up was a Collins KWM2 with a FT-650 transverter to get me running on 52Mhz SSB.
ICOM and Kenwood rigs followed......
My log book as several large gaps due to changing interests over the years.
I am currently active on 3.5Mhz too 54Mhz, FT8, SSB and FM.
My current station is an ICOM IC-9700 with triband vertical, ICOM IC-7610 with a 40Metre dipole, 1.8-54Mhz MFJ ATU and a M2 Horz Loop for 6 Metres.
